Formal Garden

Some pictures of a raised vegetable garden.  We will probably add some kind of a fountain or centerpiece in the middle and plant a formal hedge around the outside.  The boxes are made from 4×4 timbers and the path areas are fine asphalt millings.

Here are a couple of pictures of a job we just finished.  We used a Paverloc blend paver in combination with a creta wall curved entry step.

Prep for Warm Weather

Looking ahead in the long term forecast I am seeing temperatures creeping up into the mid to upper 70’s for next week.  Now is a good time to make sure that your lawn is ready for the rising temps.  Two main things to work on:

1. Make sure your irrigation is up and running.  We had a lot of rain lately so it is not necessary to water now, but be ready for when things dry out.

2. Raise your mowing height to 3.25-3.50 inches.  Do not trust the markings on your mower because they are usually wrong.  Measure your lawn.  A higher cut lawn will have better drought tolerance and better weed prevention.  This is the most important thing you can do for your lawn this season.

Ice Pics

Just a couple of pics in the sunlight I shot this morning.  It got down to 28 degrees by us and we had to run the irrigation overnight to protect the plant material from the frost.

The Garden Center is Open

The Retail Garden Center is now open for the season.  Current hours are 10-6 Mon – Fri and 9-4 on Sat.

We are 50% stocked and will be adding material throughout the next few weeks.
